FYT’S 2011-2012 SEASON THEME, RITES OF PASSAGE ENCORE: TRANSITIONS AND TRANSFORMATIONS IS CENTER-STAGE IN SPECIAL EVENT PERFORMANCE OF THE OUTSIDERS

Flint Youth Theatre presents a staged reading of The Outsiders, based on the novel written by S. E. Hinton and adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel. This Special Event inaugurates the 2011-2012 Signature Series with its theme RITES OF PASSAGE ENCORE: Transitions and Transformations. The Outsiders is FYT’s third annual season kick-off and will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 6:00pm. The event will take place at FYT, 1220 East Kearsley Street in the Flint Cultural Center, using FYT’s Main Entrance.

This special family evening at FYT includes the staged reading of The Outsiders and a talk-back with the actors followed by an hors d’oeuvre, dessert and wine afterglow. Tickets for the evening are $20 for adults and $15 for children, teens and seniors. Reservations are required by contacting FYT at 810-237-1530 by 5:00pm on Thursday, September 8. Information is available at FlintYouthTheatre.org.

FYT is pleased to present a staged reading of The Outsiders, the play based on an award-winning, novel. S. E. Hinton’s modern classic centers on a lonely gang of kids who, in the face of violence and misunderstanding, find hope and seek a better future. This coming-of-age story follows a rough group of boys who are not looking for a fight, but a place to belong and to feel safe as they grow into men. In keeping with the transformations of these central characters, audiences will be introduced to FYT’s 2011-2012 Signature Series theme, RITES OF PASSAGE ENCORE: Transitions and Transformations. The play provides audiences with an opportunity to experience, reflect on and discuss the season theme and how it relates to their lives.

The 2011-2012 Signature Series Season is generously sponsored by Ruth Mott Foundation.
