Flint Youth Theatre, mid-Michigan’s only professional theatre for young audiences, will present more than a dozen performances of The Wizard of Oz — ten public performances, and eight school performances — through Sunday, Dec. 20.
The classic story of Dorothy and her dog Toto trekking down the Yellow Brick Road with Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion ties in with FYT’s season theme of “Finding Home” and discovering what home means to each one of us.
“We’re excited to bring The Wizard of Oz back to life this holiday season,” stated Jeremy Winchester, Flint Youth Theatre executive artistic director. “The familiar story and music provide a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a show together and create new traditions as we join Dorothy on her adventures.”
This year’s student cast ranges in age from third through twelfth grade and they’ll be working alongside professional actors to put on the production.
Pre-sale tickets are $12 for children, $14 for teens, seniors and veterans, and $16 for adults, and are available by calling the FYT Box Office at 810-237-1530 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, one hour before performance times, or online with an extra $2.50 fee. Day of performance prices are $14, $16, and $18.
